New Delhi, Dec 12: Seeking to clear the controversy arising out of the interview of senior BJP leader L K Advani where he projected himself for the Prime Ministerial Chair, the party today said that it had no problem whatsoever with the interview and the controversy was 'totally uncalled for'.

Senior BJP leader and former party President M Venkaiah Naidu told UNI that the BJP had gone through the interview telecast last night by a television channel but the party had found nothing objectionable or debatable in the interview. "I urge upon all the concerned who have got influenced by the newspaper reports but did not view the interview to go through the full text of the interview," Mr Naidu said.

Asked why the BJP was issuing clarification two days after the controversy broke, Mr Naidu said the interview was telecast only last night and the party couldn't possibly react without seeing it.

"Now that we have seen the interview, the party has absolutely no problem with the interview," he said.

Mr Advani had touched upon several issues including projecting himself for the Prime Ministerial chair in his capacity as 'PM in waiting' and he did not expect former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to 'return favours' in the run up to 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

In a separate interaction, BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said Mr Advani's issue did not figure in the Parliamentary Party meeting. "Nobody raised the issue nor was there any answer forthcoming," he said.
