Bharti Teletech ties up with Polycom to offer VoIP services to SMBs

New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) Bharti Teletech, India's largest fixed line phone manufacturer and flagship company of the group, today entered into a distribution agreement with US-based Polycom to offer voice and video conferencing solutions to the Indian small and medium businesses (SMBs).

While Polycom will leverage Bharti's retail network of 40,000 outlets and 570 distributors to reach out to the SMB and Small Office Home Office (SOHO) market with this alliance, Bharti Teletech seeks to enhance its position in the voice conferenecing market.

''The tie-up will enable us to enhance our position in the market by combining our domain expertise and network with Polycom's quality offerings. The company expects to earn 50 million dollars in next two years from this partnership,'' Bharti Teletech Vice Chairman and Managing Director Rakesh Bharti Mittal told reporters here.

Polycom is in the process of identifying and expanding channels besides ramping up its employee base by the end of next year.

''India for us is the fastest growing market in the Asia Pacific region. We together with Bharti, expect to grab a bigger share of the telecom sector,'' Polycom Asia Pacific Managing Director and Vice President (Sales) Hansjeorg Wagner said.

The company today also launched four new products -- Voice Station 300 and 500, Polycom Communicator, Sound Station2W and SoundPoint Pro.

The products priced at Rs 12,000 onwards will be developed jointly by the companies to cater to the low-end section of the domestic telecom market.
