Beam Global enters into IMFL segment with 'Whisky DYC'

New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) US-based Beam Global Spirits and Wine, world's fourth largest premium spirits company today launched 'Indian Made Foreign Liquor' (IMFL) brand, Whisky DYC in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs 370 for a 750 ml bottle.

''Addressing a gap in the market between the premium and semi premium IMFL price segment, Whisky DYC offers premium quality with world-class packaging at an affordable price,'' Beam Global Spirits and Wine Managing Director (India) Harish Moolchandani told reporters here.

Mr Moolchandani said Whisky DYC would be made available pan-India by the end of April, 2007, adding that the company would foray into Punjab with this product by December-end this year.

''India is a focus market for Beam Global and the launch of DYC is the first of many initiatives designed to tap the potential of the Indian market,'' company's President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas J Flocco said.

Mr Flocco added that the launch of Whisky DYC would enable us to compete in a new and expansive category.

Whisky DYC, a blend of premium Indian grain and imported aged malts, will be blended and bottled in the country.

Presently, IMFL whisky segment has a volume of 65 million cases per year and is growing at between six to eight per cent per annum.
