Bangla President inducts 3 new advisors into govt
Dhaka, Dec 12: Bangladesh President and Chief Advisor Professor Iajuddin Ahmed today inducted three new advisors into his interim caretaker government following the resignation by four advisors.
The new advisors include Maj Gen (Rtd) Ruhul Alam Chowdhury, Professor Mohammad Moinuddin Khan and Shafiqul Huq Chowdhury.
The President administered the oath of office to the new entrants at Bangabhaban at 1405 hrs after an abortive bid of reconciliation with Dr Akabar Ali Khan, Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury, CM Shafi Sami and Sultana Kamal, who had quit from the council of advisors yesterday.
Earlier, the President accepted the resignation of the four advisors, who resigned en masse following serious disputes with him on implementing a package proposal for holding a credible election and on the deployment of the army.
This is for the first time that four advisors have resigned from the caretaker government since this unique system was introduced in 1990, following the fall of military dictator HM Ershad to hold free and fair elections.
