Assault on journalists condemned

Imphal, Dec 12 (UNI) The media organisations of Manipur have condemned the assault on two senior journalists of a local vernacular daily, Matamgi Yakairol, on December 10 midnight by miscreants.

The two scribes, Yendrembam Mangi Singh and Haobam Gopal Singh, were assaulted when they were returning home from office.

The Editors' Forum, Manipur, and the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union called a special meeting last night to discuss the matter. The two organisations have also condemned the attack on the duo.

The organisations have appealed to the government to ensure the security of mediapersons working in the state. One of the journalists has left Imphal for further medical treatment.
