Adventurer Mastan Babu sets eye on Marathon

Hyderabad, Dec 12 (UNI) Malli Mastan Babu, the first South Asian to conquer the seven summits in the world now wants to compete in 29 Marathon races in India.

Talking to newpersons here, Mastan Babu said, ''Having set world record by conquering seven summits in the world, I wanted to inspire Indian sportsmen by achieving a new feat in the marathon.'' Mastan was the first Indian to conquer the Mt Vinson Massif, the tallest peak of Antartica, the first Indian to conquer Mt Carstensz Pyramid, the tallest peak of Oceania and the first and only person from Andhra Pradesh to conquer Mt Everest.

His earlier feats include, climbing Mt Everest (8,850 m) on May 21, 2006, Mt Denali in USA/North America 6,194 meters on July 10, 2006, Mt Elbrus in Russia/Europe 5,642 meters on June 13, 2006, Mt Killimanjaro in Tanzania/Africa 5,895 meters on March 15, 2006, Mt Vinson Massif in Antarctica 4,897 meters on January 19, 2006, Mt Aconcagua in Argentina/South America 6,962 meters on February 17, 2006 and Mt Kosciuzsko in Australia 2,228 meters on April one, 2006.
