New Delhi, Dec 12: For the first time since the onset of winter, 30 flights were delayed in the capital due to fog early today.

''The fog led to a drop in visibility levels at around 0700 Hours, leading to slight delays in nearly 30 flights,'' a spokesperson of the Airport Authority of India said.

''At around 0700 hours, the visibility levels dropped to below 500 RVR (the unit used to measure visibility). As a result 30 flights were delayed. Immediately, the CAT III systems were put in force,'' he added.

However, normal flight operations resumed after a rise in visibility levels to 675 RVR at 0845 hours, the spokesperson said.

He said 11 aircrafts, which were equipped with the CAT III system, however, took off on time.
