10 yrs' RI for drug peddling
Neemuch, MP, Dec 12 (UNI) A local court has sentenced two persons to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, on the charge of possessing drugs.
According to prosecution, a central narcotics bureau team had nabbed Badaud village-resident Parshuram Patidar with 6.1 kg opium and 500 gm morphine on July 3, 1997.
Parshuram had confessed that the substance belonged to Balaguda village-resident Babulal Patidar. On raiding Babulal's residence, six kg 'doda choora (by-product of opium)' was seized.
A fine of Rs one lakh was slapped on Babulal, while Parshuram was fined Rs 10,000. The term of sentence will be extended by one year in case of non-payment of fine.
Special Judge Anupam Srivastava delivered the verdict yesterday.
