Two maoists arrested, firearms seized
Visakhapatnam, Dec 11 (UNI) Two Maoist cadres were arrested in Mampa police station limits in Koyyare mandal in the district.
District Superintendent of Police J G Murali, informing this to reporters here today, said the arrested were identified as N Raja Rao (25) and M Nageswara Rao (35).
Two SBBL guns, two grenades, one claymore mine, three wire bundles, maps lights, medicines and fusewires were recovered from them, he added.
He said the district administration had posted strong contingent of armed police in parts of the agency areas following a bandh call given by Maoists today in protest against the death of state committee member Gautham, who was killed in a police encounter 20 days ago.
Stating that the bandh evoked poor response, he said the ultras felled trees across the G K Veedhi-Sileru road affecting movement of vehicular traffic while tribals in most of the villages remained indoors fearing violence.
