LS proceedings stalled in pre-lunch sitting

New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) The Lok Sabha could not transact any business in the pre-lunch sitting today as the BJP members stalled the proceedings on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's remark on minorites, forcing three adjournments.

The House was first adjourned till 1130 hrs, then till 1200 hrs and finally till 1400 hrs as the BJP members shouted slogans, demanding that the Prime Minister come to the House and apologise to the nation for stating that minorities should have the first claim on resources.

Failing to persuade the agitated opposition members, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee kept adjourning the proceedings.
