Infosys' employee utilisation ratio dips in Q2

Mumbai, Dec 11 (UNI) Even as India's leading software giant, Infosys Technologies today created history by getting itself added to the Nasdaq-100 index, it's employee utilisation ratio has dipped during the second quarter of the current financial year, while the corresponding ratios of it's rivals like TCS, Satyam, HCL and Wipro has soared in remarkable proportions during the same period.

It registered a ratio of 67.4 per cent during the said period which is low, when compared to the figure during the same period last year which was 71.4 per cent.

Talking to UNI on the sidelines of the announcement of Infosys' getting added to the Nasdaq-100 index here, Infosys CFO Mr V Balakrishnan admitted to this fact.

''We've recruited a fresh batch of 10,795 staff during the second quarter of the current financial year who are undergoing training these days and hence the fluctuation in the figure,'' he explained.

He added that the company had plans to increase it's headcount by 28,000 during the remaining period of the current fiscal.

Replying to a media query on their China operations, CEO and MD Mr Nandan Nilekani said, ''Right now we've employed 700 employees there and soon we'll be increasing our headcount to a few thousands in addition to the existing strength there.'' UNI KKD WD AG1711
