Walawalkar takes pole position in fifth round of karting national

Mumbai, Dec 9 (UNI) City-lad Ameya Walavalkar, the current leader in the points tally for the MRF-MAI Indian National Karting championship, took pole position on the grid for the concluding leg of the championships at the karting track of the Acres Club, Chembur, here today .

In the qualifying rounds, Walawalkar, representing Speed Rayo Racing 1, clocked an average lap time of 27.199 seconds, followed by Pune's Rayomand Banajee, who clocked 27.349. Finishing third fastest was Chennai's Akshaye Patel, representing Electra Racing, who clocked 27.410.

Goa's Audumber Hede, second in the overall points tally, had a poor outing and will start sixth on the grid on Sunday. Sixteen drivers have qualified for the final round to be held on Sunday.
