Tension prevails in Hodigere village

Davanegere, Dec 9 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Hodigere village following a clash between two Janata Dal(S) factions in which one person was killed and five others were injured, late last night, police said today.

According to police sources long political enmity between the two factions was said to be the reason for the clash.

Timely action by the Chennagiri police averted further clashes.

The injured were admitted to the district hospital here.

Additional police forces from Davanegere were deployed in the troubled village.

The deceased was identified as Satish(42) a relative of District Zilla panchayat member Hodigere Ramesh from JD(S).

Nine people have been arrested in this connection and were produced before the court today.

The situtation is tense, but under control. Senior police officials were camping in the village, the sources added.
