SUCI members hold protest march against Singur deal
New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI) The Delhi unit of Socialist Unity Centre of India today held a protest march against the acquisition of Singur farmers' land by the West Bengal Government and police brutalities against them.
The demonstrators handed over a memorandum, addressed to West Bengal Government Gopalkrishna Gandhi, to state Resident Commissioner here.
The march commenced at Mandi house and wound through to Banga Bhawan at Hailey road.
''The incident should be an eye-opener for all to see as to what an autocratic repressive anti-people character the CPI(M) leadership, masquerading as Marxist-Leftist, has assumed in its pursuit of subservience to bourgeois class,'' Delhi State Organising Committee, SUCI, General Secretary Pratap Samal said.
Coming down heavily on the CPI(M), he said while the party is opposing allotment of fertile land for industrial purposes in Maharashtra, UP and Orissa, in West Bengal, the Left Government is on a spree to forcibly buy land from poor farmers.
Mr Samal emphasised on the need to bring out the details of the Singur movement to the people of India to ''unmask the repressive and brutal'' face of the CPI (M)-led West Bengal Government.
