SPO killed in Chhattisgarh
Jagdalpur, Dec 9 (UNI) A special police officer (SPO) was killed and another severely injured today in an encounter with naxals near Dalla village in Chhattisgarh's tribal-dominated and extremism-affected Dantewada district, the police said.
A few workers associated with 'Salwa Judum' (peace movement) were being escorted on foot this afternoon -- by Central Reserve Police Force personnel and SPOs -- to Gangalur where Chief Minister Raman Singh is scheduled to address a meeting on December 11.
They were ambushed by the rebels who opened fire. The personnel returned fire. A heavy police force, led by senior officers, has rushed to the spot.
