Security beefed up at city airport
Kolkata, Dec 9 (UNI) Security has been beefed up at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport following the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security's warning of a possible attempt to hijack passenger airplanes.
Reinforcement CISF personnel was increased at the airport and intensified surveillance including checking of luggages and frisking of the passengers.
A quick reaction team has been sentisied and security personnel in civil dress have been posted in various parts of the airport.
CISF Comandant of the Airport Kashinath Tripathy said here that security arrangements have been further tightened although there has been no ban on the entry of visitors to the airport.
Although no particular group was identified by the Bureau of Civil Avaition Security, it is believed that Pakistan based terrorists might try to hijack airplanes demanding the release of Afjal Guru, an accused in Parliament attack.
