Security beefed up at airports
Chennai, Dec 9 (UNI) Security has been beefed up at the Anna International and the Kamaraj Domestic Airports here following a nationwide 'high alert' sounded by intelligence agencies about a possible plane hijack by terrorists seeking the release of Mohammed Afzal Guru, who has been sentenced to death in the Parliament Attack Case.
Airport sources said the security at the airports has been enhanced with emphasis on vehicle checks, passenger frisking, routine x-ray check and enhanced security deployment.
Patrolling on the city side -- the areas in the around the airports-- have also been increased, they added.
