Ramadoss criticises desecration of Periyar statue
Villupuram, Tamil Nadu Dec 9 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK)founder leader S Ramadoss today criticised the desecration of the statue of rationalist leader Periyar E V Ramasamy by ''vested interests.'' In a statement, issued by his party office, he alleged that divisive forces were trying to heap insults on the cherished ideals and principles of Periyar and his ardent followers.
The Government and the police department must be vigilant enough to thwart the attempts of the vested interests, who might take advantage of the situation and create a law and order problem, he added.
He said some political parties with vested interests might have attempted to create an unpleasant situation to damage the reputation of the DMK Government led by M Karunanidhi. The law-enfocement authorities should leave no stone unturned to scuttle the nefarious designs of divisive forces and ensure peace and communal harmony in the state, he added.
