Popular Front of India comes into existence
Bangalore, Dec 9 (UNI) A new federation called Popular Front of India, an amalgamation of three organisations based in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, came into existence today with a view to coordinate and strengthen developmental activities at the grassroot level.
Disclosing this to newsmen here Front Chairman E Abubacker said the need for having a front arose following failure of existing socio-economic models of development to alleviate poverty and backwardness of the people in the country. The new outfit was a movement for realisation of a society in which freedom, justice and security were equally enjoyed by the people of all classes, he explained.
He said the decision to form a front was taken by three state level organisations Karnataka Forum for Dignity, Kerala's National Development Front and Tamil Nadu based Manitha Neethi Pasarai.
These three organisations would work separately but would also work together as constituents of a federation. The activities of the front would confine to the South Indian states, he added.
Replying to queries he said the front would also ensure that priority was accorded to providing education to the needy children.
A study had also revealed high rate of percentage of school drop outs in Karnataka due to poor economic conditions, he added.
