Police 'traps' robbers inside bank

Lucknow, Dec 9 (UNI) An attempt to loot a bank in the Sultanpur district failed as police managed to trap the dacoits inside the building this afternoon.

Police sources said here that a group of dacoits had entered the Punjab National Bank in the city area of Sultanpur. Though the bank staff apparently failed to alert the nearby police station through alarm, passers-by who witnessed the heist informed police.

Police reached the spot and locked the building gates from outside. The dacoits and bank employees were inside.

Acording to another version, while the dacoits managed to escape after firing in the air, police locked the gates following reports that at least two of the dacoits were on the terrace.
