New transfer policy be formulted for govt servants

Bangalore, Dec 9 (UNI) Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hedge today stressed that a national policy on transfer of government employees be formulated to help in bringing good governance in the country.

Justice Hegde addressing a workshop on Efficiency in Administration and Quick Response to Peoples' Problems here said that such a policy would stop the harassment by the politicians and officers by issuing the premature transfers.

A national policy on transfer with minimum three years would help in protecting family interests of the government employees, Hedge said.

He said the government workers should work as the government represantatives and not representatives of politicians by succumbing to their pressure.

The service mindedness among the public servants is the most important and should quickly respond to the common man's problems within the legal frame work, he said.

Stating that the Lokayukta institution is not an advarsary to the government employees, he said he was ready to solve the grievances if they approach him.
