National Eminence Award for Pt Shivkumar Sharma
Mumbai, Dec 9 (UNI) Santoor wizard Pandit Shivkumar Sharma will be honoured with the 5th Sri Shanmukhanada National Eminence Award in Fine Arts here tomorrow, for his contribution in fine arts.
Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna will present the award to Pandit Sharma which carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh, a big silver lamp, a citation and a shawl.
The award is conferred each year as life time achievement award to an eminent practitioner of fine arts.
Previous recipients of the award include Sri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Dr Vempatti Chinna Sathyam and Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
This year's Shanmukha Sangeetha Shiromani Awards will be presented to Jayashiri Ramnath (Carnatic Vocal), Sikkil Mala Chandrasekhar (Flute) and Omkar Dadarkar (Hindusthani Vocal).
The Shiromani Award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a bronze icon of Lord Shanmukha, a citation and a shawl.
