Marlabs opens facility in Mysore

Mysore, Dec 9 (UNI) Marlabs India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marlabs Inc, an US-based technology services and solutions provider, today opened its global development and training centre here, its fifth centre after four in Bangalore.

The company proposed to build another campus in Mysore in the next three years. It would be investing Rs 22 crore in the Mysore facility and would hire over 1,000 professionals over the next three years.

In an informal interaction with the media after the inauguration by Karnataka Water Resources Minister K S Eshwarappa, Marlabs Inc Senior Vice-President and head of Professional Services Jay Nair said Marlabs, being vertical focussed, had a constant need to hire laterals and reskill them or train them in new skills. The global training and development centre assumed significance in this context as it would be key to building a long term competitive advantage for Marlabs globally. The training centre would be of help to the company's professional services practice in India, posting an exponential growth.

Explaining the reason for choosing Mysore, Marlabs Inc Associate Vice-President and General Counsel Sanjay Vidyadharan said ''we believe that Mysore has the potential to become an IT hub in the next decade due to its proximity to Bangalore, cheaper infrastructure and access to quality talent. An added advantage is the higher quality of lifestyle in the city.'' Mr Vignesh Hebbar, Associate Vice-President, Professional Services, Marlabs, said the they were in the process of obtaining all necessary approvals for the new campus and intended to commence construction soon. The company was also looking to collaborate with local engineering colleges to contribute to the quality of education imparted and achieve true industry-academia partnership.

The company employed over 400 professionals in India. Marlabs Inc was a 75 million US Dollars company, providing a full suite of solutions and services to healthcare, insurance, real estate, media and entertainment ventures.
