Landmine found in Moaist dominated Midnapur

Midnapur, Dec 9: A powerful landmine was unearthed at Belatikri village under Lalgarh police station in the district today.

The area is close to the site where two blasts killed two bomb disposal squad personnel and injured score of policemen including an Additional SP and a DSP seriously, recently.

A bomb disposal squad from Kolkata has been summoned to defuse the landmine, West Midnapur District Magistrate BP Barat said.

Police have cordoned off the area wehre the landmine packed in a milkcan, police added.

Local villagers first saw the can lying on a kutcha road connecting Bankura with Midnapur early this morning. A black wire was tagged to it and extended to some distance.
