Lady constable shoots self

Itanagar, Dec 9 (UNI) A newly passed out trainee lady constable reportedly shot herself accidentally while servicing a rifle at the Itanagar Police Station here yesterday, police said today.

The constable, Basanti, accidentally pulled the trigger while pointing the barrel of the gun towards herself and two bullets crossed through her throat, injuring her seriously, police said.

She was immediately rushed to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital and later shifted to Guwahati for further treatment. Her condition is said to be stable.
