'Labour plays crucial role in economic devp'
Hyderabad, Dec 9: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Labour and Employment G Vinod said the labour scenario was an important determinant of investment climate for any State as it plays an important role in determining the health of an economy.
While addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) Southern Regional Council here today, he said the development of a state also depends on good labour policy and employment generation.
Mr Vinod emphasised that joint efforts were required from the Government and the Industry to develop friendly labour policies to attract more and more investments in the State. The State was unique in terms of huge reservoir of skilled manpower with the presence of large number of engineering and medical colleges and management institutes and traditional Universities.
He felt there was an urgent need for partnership in creating skill sets at the grassroot level and the need to strengthen "Industry-Institute" interaction further.
More than 50 Chief Executive Officers and senior representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puduchery were attending the interactive session.
The Chairman CII Southern Region M Lakshminarayan said that Andhra Pradesh was one of the fastest growing states in India and in the last few years there had been skyrocketing growth of the state economy.
