Kashmir highway reopens, stranded vehicles to ply
Srinagar, Dec 9: Traffic on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway resumed this afternoon after remaining closed for five days due to landslides.
Official sources said decision to allow traffic on the highway was taken after shooting of stones at Pental stopped and Border Road Organisation (BRO) removed the stones and mud from the road.
The damaged portion of the road was also partially repaired so that the vehicle stranded since December 5 could move towards their repective destinations.
No vehicle will be allowed from Jammu or Srinagar today until all the stranded vehicles are cleared, sources said, adding BRO personnel have been deployed in the landslide prone area to warn the drivers about any danger.
