Johnson assures India of another boxing medal

Doha, Dec 9 (UNI) Verghese Johnson assured India a second medal in the boxing competition in the Asian Games when he got a walkover from UAE's Ibraheem Hasan Al-Zaabi in the quarter-final of the Super heavy plus 91kg category here this evening.

As per the rules of the International Boxing Federation, both the losing semifinalists get the Bronze each as there is no fight for the third place.

Earlier, Vijender had made it to the semifinals of the 75kg category event.

Both the Indians face boxers from Kazakhstan in their semifinal bouts.

Tomorrow Vijender will take on Artayev Bakhtiyar in his bid to make it to the final while Johnson will fight with Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov on Monday.
