Honorarium of Panchayat President raised

Bhopal, Dec 9 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government will raise the Block Panchayat Presidents, daily allowance to Rs 100 per day and monthly honorarium to Rs 1500, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

The honorarium of Janpad (block) Panchayat Vice Presidents has also been raised to Rs 1250 per month, Mr Chouhan said at a state-level workshop of Block Panchayat Presidents here yesterday.

For smooth conduct of administration, Janpad Presidents had been empowered to write the Annual Confidential Report of the Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Chouhan assurred that all hurdles in discharging responsibilities of Panchayatiraj functionaries would be removed as gram and janpad panchayats would play an effective role in the implementation of government programmes at the grassroot level.

He said a scheme would be launched soon under which a certain amount would be deposited in the account of a girl child the same day she was born and it would increase to Rs one lakh when she attains 21 years old.
