Giant Quran unveiled
Chennai, Dec 9 (UNI) A seven-foot-long Quran, the holy book of Islam, reproduced by a Coimbatore-based advocate was unveiled here.
The 610-page handwritten Quran, weighing 250 kg, was unveiled yesterday by Nawab of Arcot Prince Mohammed Ali in the presence of Madras High Court Judge, Mr Justice V Ramasubramaniam.
The Quran was reproduced by 42-year-old Raja Sharif who had earlier recorded 1,330 couplets of the Tamil poem 'Thirukkural' on a palm leaf.
Written in Arabic, the Quran would be gifted to one of the Arab countries.
His 'Thirukkural' reproduction was presented to President A P J Abdul Kalam in 2003 during his visit to the textile city.
