Ganganjeet Bhullar tied fourth, men's team retains fourth spot
Doha, Dec 9 (UNI) Gaganjeet Bhullar carded a second successive two-under 70 to be tied fourth in the individual event, while the Indian Men's team retained its fourth spot at the end of the second day of the golf competitions at the Asian Games here today.
Gaganjeet's 70 made him the top-placed Indian today as he took his two-day total to four-under 140.
The Indian team, meanwhile, took its tally to 421 after the completion of the second round.
A ninth hole bogey was the only blemish in Bhullar's show today as he sank in birdies on the second and 16th before signing off in style with a last hole birdie. Bhullar's 70 was matched by Joseph Chakola, who was tied for the 19th spot with a total of one-under 143.
Yesterday's top-performer Anirban Lahiri was not in his elements today as he finished over-par to drop to the tied 12th spot. His 73 took his tally to two-under 142.
Chiragh Kumar carded a consecutive 71 saw him at the tied eighth spot after the end of the second round with a two-day total of two-under 142.
The Korean team leads the pack with a total 413.
In the women's section, Meghna Bal was once again pick of the Indians as she carded a three-under 70 to total five-under 141 after two rounds to retain her seventh spot.
Meghna put up a flawless performance as she sank in birdies on the sixth, 10th and 16th to round off another impressive day.
Sharmila Nicollet, meanwhile, returned an improved card of two-under 71 to rise to the tied 13th position on the leaderboard.
Sharmila stumbled to two bogeys against four birdies to take her tally to two-over 148.
However, Vaishvi Sinha disappointed with a three-over 76 as she dropped to the 17th with a two-day total of four-over 150.
The Indian women team ended the day at the fourth spot with a total of 286 after two rounds. The Republic of Korea is at the top of the leaderboard with 271.
