Eminent poet passes away
Allahabad, Dec 9 (UNI) Eminent Hindi poet and writer Kailash Gautam died of a cardiac arrest here today.
Mr Gautam had retired from the services of the All India Radio two years back and was presently the president of the Hindustani Academy engaged in the propagation of Hindi language.
He was the recipient of many popular awards, including Saraswat Samman of Uttar Pradesh government, Lok Bhushan Samman and Acharya Mahendra Shastri Samman.
Besides, he had written several books. 'Tambuaon Kaa Shahar', 'Mausham Ke Geet', 'Amavas Kaa Mela' and 'Sir Par Aag' are his popular works.
The mortal remains of the deported poet will be consigned to flames at the Daraganj crematorium tomorrow.
