Most educated mothers in MP happy with just 2 kids

Bhopal, Dec 9: Most educated mothers in Madhya Pradesh -- a statewith a declining gender ratio -- prefer not to have a third child, asper statistics of the Third National Family Health Survey, 2005-06.

The exercise was conducted between April and August by theJaipur-based Indian Health Management and Research Institution withassistance from the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry andinternational agencies.

As many as 81.9 per cent mothers of two children each did not desire more offspring.

An interesting revelation was that only 27.6 per cent ofuneducated mothers were happy with two girls while the percentage was97.9 in women who had studied upto high school or above. The percentagewas 97.3 in such educated mothers who had two boys or a girl and a boyeach.
