Delhi police arrest 11 in connection with Gujarat manpower racket
New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI) Delhi police have busted a manpower racket in various cities of Gujarat, which involves sending people in the state to foreign countries on forged visas in return for a hefty amount, and arrested 11 persons in this connection.
The 11 persons, which included manpower racketeers, their sub agents and their collaborative partners or passengers who were wanted for the last several years in connection with passport and visa forgery cases, were arrested by the IGI airport units of the Delhi police after many raids in Mehsana, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad districts of Gujarat over the last one month.
The operations were launched after establishing well coordinated and cooperative participation of the Gujarat police.
Police said the accused persons were brought to Delhi this morning. They said the police raids had put agents operating in these areas on the run and forced them to close down their criminal activities.
Every year, over 700 cases relating to visa and passport forgery are registered in the IGI airport police station, out of which 150 to 200 involve manpower racketeers from the above districts in Gujarat.
Each of these passengers pay Rs 15 lakh to these agents, of which Rs one or two lakh is paid before the journey while the remaining amount is paid after the arrival of the aacused person in the foreign land.
