CITU alleges non-implementation of labour laws in JK
Jammu, Dec 9 (UNI) Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) today alleged non-implementation of labour laws by the private sector firms in Jammu and Kashmir and called the entire working class for extending full support to the nation-wide strike on December 14.
Addressing a press conference here, CITU president and sitting CPI(M) MLA from Kulgam M Y Tarigami said, ''The state committee of CITU fully endorses one-day strike called by the major trade unions in the country.'' ''We also call upon the unemployed youths, farmers, government employees and private organisations and others sections of society to fully participate in the strike,'' he said.
Referring to the on-going fast-unto-death by coal miners at Kalakote (Rajouri), Mr Tarigami said nothing had been done to consider their genuine demands of about 1,200 workers in the coal mine.
''Despite directions of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, administration as well as management have not shown any interest in addressing the workers demands, who have been compelled to go on fast-unto-death,'' he said.
Mr Tarigami welcomed the industry houses for setting-up their units in the state and demanded 100 per cent job opportunities for local youths.
