Buoyed after Asiad glory, Kabaddi captain vows to win World Cup

New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI) Returning home with the fifth straight Asian Games Gold in Kabaddi, captain Dinesh Kumar and coach Balwan Singh today thundered that India will win next month's World Cup in Mumbai.

The kabaddi team, which returned along with the shooters, from Doha, were greeted at the airport.

Talking to UNI later, Dinesh said, ''We were quite confident of winning our fifth Asian Games gold medal. Only Pakistan could have posed some problems for us, otherwise we didn't have to be wary of any other team. In fact they are far behind us.'' Coach Balwan Singh said, ''Iran too tried its best to stop us but that was not to be and only Pakistan provided some sort of resistance.'' Both the captain and the coach felt that kabaddi was gaining popularity and said the event attracted considerable crowd in Doha.

''Kabaddi surely has a bright future,'' the coach said.

''Now that we have achieved this feat, our next target would be to win the World Cup in Mumbai. Eighteen teams would be in the fray but we are confident of lifting the title in Mumbai,'' he added.

The camp for the World Cup would start in Patiala later this month.
