BPPF(R) to hold demonstration during winter session
Kokrajhar, Dec 9 (UNI) The Bodoland People's Progressive Front's (BPPF) Rabiram faction today informed that the party will organise a sit-in demonstration at Dispur on December 11, the first day of winter session of the state Assembly.
BPPF (R) chief Rabiram Narzary said here the demonstration would protest the ''rampant corruption'' in the Bodoland Territorial Administrative Districts (BTAD) area in the four districts of Kokrajhar, Baska, Chirang and Udalguri.
The party would highlight four issues, particularly the demand for a CBI enquiry into the alleged misappropriation of DRDA and other funds by the BTAD administration, he said.
The BPPF (R) also demanded that posts in the village and town councils under the BTAD should be filled by election, and not selection as was being done now.
It further demanded that the salaries of the teachers and non-teaching staff of BTAD area schools should be paid regularly, as most payments were held up due to the Education department's drive of detecting illegal appointments.
Meanwhile, the BPPF(R) would mark its first anniversary with a two-day programme on December 19 and 20 at Tamulpur.
The other faction of the parent BPPF, the BPPF (Hagrama), is part of the coalition government at Dispur.
