BJP accuses SP of being anti-Muslim

Pratapgarh, Dec 9 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today asked the Muslim community not to become a victim of the ruling Samajwadi Party's vote bank politics.

''During the last three years of its reign, the SP has done nothing for the upliftment of the Muslim community. The party is only concerned about its vote bank politics and has nothing to do with their grievances,'' senior BJP leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi told mediapersons here.

The former Union Minister alleged that fair and free Assembly polls were impossible under the reign of the SP-led Uttar Pradesh government.

He demanded imposition of President's rule in UP and expressed concern over the 'dismal' law and order situation in the state.

''People in the state lack basic amenities including water and electricity, while over the years, the number of criminal activities has also grown.'' He alleged that the ''SP is hand-in-glove with criminals in the state and is busy saving them''.

He also rubbished the Sachhar Committeee report, saying the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre believed only in constituting commissions and not implementing the recommendations made by them.

''The BJP would caution the Muslims against being fooled by the report as Congress has the distinction of breaking vows like it did in the Ayodhya demolition and minority status of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU),'' he said.
