Arun Kumar, Rawat shine as Assam pile up 247 for 3

Palakkad, Dec 9 (UNI) Assam were 247 for the loss of three wickets today in the first innings of the Plate A Ranji Cricket Tournament against Kerala at the end of the first day's play at Port Maidan here.

Earlier, Assam won the toss and elected to bat. A third wicket partnership of 118 runs between Chandan Rawat (70) and Arunkumar (45) enabled Assam to reach a 247 runs.

An impressive knock by Assam opener Chandran Rawat (70) (15x4) and skipper Arunkumar's 83 n.o (12x4) formed the day's highlight.

Arunkumar and Nisanta Bordoloi (32 n.o) were at the crease at the the end of the day's play.

For Kerala, medium pacer S Suresh took 2 wickets conceding 57 runs.
