90 pc of HImachal people suffering from dental ailments: Governor
Shimla, Dec 9 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Governor V S Kokje today expressed concern over 90 per cent people suffering from dental ailments in the state.
Presiding over the eleventh National Conference of Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry, he said lack of awareness, smoking and alcoholism were some of the causes because of which 90 per cent of the state's people were suffering from some form of dental ailment.
Mr Kokje said despite an increase in the level of awareness about dental hygiene in the last decade or two, the dental diseases were some of the most prevalent in the country.
Reiterating the state government's resolve in providing quality and affordable dental health services to the people, he said the state was already providing best health care to its people.
The Governor hoped that the deliberations at the conference would go a long way in addressing the urgent issues relating to dental diseases.
Over 200 delegates from all over the country are participating in the three-day conference, which has been organised by Government Dental College and Hospital's Department of Community Dentistry.
