2 Anand municipal councillors served with show-cause notices
Ahmedabad, Dec 9 (UNI) Anand district collector BG Jhalavadia today issued show-cause notices to two councillors of Anand Municipality why they should not be removed from their post, as they have been indicted for their involvement in post Godhra riots of 2002.
The notices has been served on councillors Alpesh Patel (Independent), presently lodged in Sabarmati jail, and Sachin Patel (BJP), who was recently appointed as the chairman of the Road committee and is now out on bail.
Mamlatdar Jignesh Patel, on November 11, 2006, had written a letter to the chief officer of the municipality asking if any action is being contemplated against the two and if not, why. Since no reply was received so far, he informed the Collector DG Jhalavadia who, in turn, issued show-cause notices to the two.
