Vijay Wadettiwar, Prakash Bharsakale take oath

Nagpur, Dec 8: Vijay Wadettiwar and Prakash Bharsakale, who wereyesterday declared elected in the by-elections to the MaharashtraLegislative Assembly from Chimur (district Chandrapur) and Daryapur(district Amravati) in Vidarbha respectively, took oath of membershiptoday.

Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar administered the oath to them at thevery beginning of today's proceedings. Mr Wadettiwar and Mr Bharsakale,both took the oath in Marathi and in the name of God.

There was a loud thumping of desks as the two went up to take the oath.

Known supporters of Revenue Minister Narayan Rane, Mr Wadettiwarand Mr Bharsakale quit the Shiv Sena and resigned from the Assembly tojoin the Congress. The by-elections were necessitated by theirresignations.

Mr Wadettiwar defeated his nearest rival, Ramesh Gajbe of the BJP,in Chimur, while Mr Bharsakale defeated Balasaheb Hinganikar of theShiv Sena in Daryapur.
