Tension prevails in Bangalore Race Course
Bangalore, Dec 8 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time in the race course here today as punters resorted to violent acts in protest against Jockey C Alford failing to finish first despite maintaining a lead and allowing Jockey S Ramesh to win the 'Bugs Bunny Cup'.
The agitators started damaging the Closed Circuit TVs and furniture as Jockey Ramesh, rider of 'Hidalgo', finished first, overtaking Jockey Alford, rider of 'Appoint', who was ten lengths ahead up to 1200 M in the 1400 M seventh race and was looking back frequently. The agitators left the venue after doing considerable damage.
Following the protest, Senior Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club decided to cancel the eighth race of the day 'The Poottannah Memorial Plate 1200 M'.
BTC sources told UNI that an enquiry would be held into the incident.
