Sino-Indian joint initiatives for studying global changes
Panaji, Dec 8 (UNI) Chinese and Indian scientists are likely to undertake various collaborative research projects soon on global changes and monsoon driven processes involving Asia-Pacific countries experts for mutual benefit.
This was the outcome of the three-day workshop on''Global Change: Ocean-Atmosphere-Land Interactions driven by monsoons'' as part of efforts to initiate Sino-Indian collaborations in earth system studies concluded here yesterday.
India's prestigious Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC) jointly sponsored the event. It was organised by the National Institute of Oceanography(NIO) at the International centre.
Intentions for undertaking ten joint research proposals had also emerged in the workshop which was a sequel to the working agreement for 2006-08 between the CSRI and the NSFC on March 21 for promoting collaborative research.
Dr S R Shetye, director, NIO led the 18-member Indian delegation while Prof Congbin Fu led the 16-member Chinese delegation.
