SC seeks report from Bihar Chief Secretary
New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed the Chief Secretary of Bihar to submit his report in respect of allegations of illegal poaching of animals, illegal mining and stone crushing going on in the district Sasaram of the state.
A Forest officer was murdered when he tried to expose the racket of illegal activities of the mafia in collusion with some forest department officials.
A naxalite Nirala Yadav is the main accused in the murder case.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justices Arijit Pasayat and S H Kapadia issued the directions to the state of Bihar following allegations made by the petitioners T N Godavarman Thirumulpad that illegal activities of the forest mafia were going on unchecked despite directions of this court.
