SC directs ED to file status report on Khanna investigations
New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed the Enforcement Directorate to file a status report on the progress of the investigations against Non Resident Indian, Vipin Khanna, who is facing allegations of involvement in the oil-for-food scam.
A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal also directed to list the matter in the first week of January next year.
Vipin Khanna, a close relative of former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh has filed a petition in the Supreme Court for release of his passport impounded by the authorities.
The authorities are, however, refusing to release the passport on the plea that a fresh case has been registered against him by the CBI and that his companies in India are under investigation.
Andaleeb Sehgal is the main accused in the scam which was exposed by the Volcker Committee.
