Rupee opens low at 44.69/71 against per USD

Mumbai, Dec 8: The Rupee today opened lower by four paise and wasquoted at Rs 44.69/71 against the US dollar as compared to it'sprevious close of Rs 44.65/66 per USD, on fresh dollar demand byforeign and nationalised banks, traders said.

Later, the domestic currency rose at Rs 44.62/64 during the mid-morning session, due to short-covering by local bankers.

The Rupee went lower again by five paise at Rs 44.68/70 per USDfrom it's previous close, due to renewal selling of the dollar byforeign and local banks, traders added.
