Punjab Police win All India Police Tennis Championship
Chandigarh, Dec 8 (UNI) The Punjab Police Tennis team has won the team championship in the recently concluded seventh All India Police Tennis Tournament-2006 held in Dehradun.
The tournament was organised by the Uttaranchal at Shanti Tennis Academy, Dehradun. The Punjab Police won this championship for the fifth times and third time in a row, thus, making a hat-trick.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Punjab Police said Ashish Kapoor won the Open Singles, S M Sharma won the Veteran Singles and Doubles Trophy while Dr Arun Sharma won the Veteran Doubles (above 50) trophy.
The other members of the team, which was led by S M Sharma, were A K Oraon, MF Farooqi, Rakesh Kaushal, Ashish Kapoor and Dr Arun Sharma.
He said that 22 teams consisting of State, UT and Central Police organisations participated in this prestigious tournament.
