Press club condemns police lathicharge on journalists

Kolkata, Dec 8 (UNI) Press Club, Kolkata, today condemned the police lathicharge on photo journalists, who were covering a march to Singur programme at Sheorafuli in Hooghly district, and demanded that the Government take action agains the 'brutality'.

''We are shocked to hear that our colleagues were brutally lathicharged by police...we request the Chief Minister to take necessary action against the guilty police officers imeediately,'' Club President Sudeb Roychowdhury and Secretary Anindya Sengupta said in a joint statement.

It said three journalists--Sushil Misra (Rajasthan Patrika), Subhasis Pramanik (Taza Khabar) and Jyotirmoy Basu (E TV) had received serious injuries.
