PCI to probe Amar Ujala scribe's charges against UP Police officer
New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) The Press Council of India(PCI) has constituted a five-member fact finding committee to look into the complaints of Amar Ujala correspondent Samiuddeen Nelu against a senior police officer of Uttar Pradesh.
Mr Nelu in his complaint had accused, the then Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur Khiri, Ms N Padamja of harassment and kidnapping in February 2005 with the intention of killing him in a fake encounter for publishing news reports not palatable to her.
The PCI said here today that it was not satisfied with the response of the state government to its queries in this regard and had therefore decided to send the fact-finding team to Uttar Pradesh.
